About:
The Debunk Fact Checker’s in Residence Program is a 3 weeks residential fact checking training program targeting journalists/researchers who are students or recent graduates from universities in Uganda.
Our key focus areas during the residence include: Climate Change Misinformation, African Biases and Stereotypes, Health Misinformation and Trending Fake News that Violates Human Rights.
Residents will be trained by our qualified Fact Checkers certified by Africa Check and Code4Africa and multimedia storytelling by Media Challenge Initiative
The Residents will be trained in Fact Checking/News Verification and Mobile Journalism (Mojo). Residents will also undertake the five-step fact checking process and learn how to produce fact checks in audio formats.
Eligibility:
Residents must have a passion/interest in fact checking and are at least 18 years of age. They must be from/living in Uganda and belong to a University in the country.
They can be fact checkers, Journalists, writers, or researchers or multifaceted with all the above skills and have relevant and provable experience in news reporting.
Deadline:
Applications for the Debunk Fact-Checkers in Residence close on 5th February, 2023.
Duration of the program:
February to March 2023.
