Call For Applications: Fact-Checking Journalists

Position: Fact-Checking Journalist
Location: Central Uganda
Reports to: Project Editor
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research, data verification, and interviews to confirm accuracy of public claims.
- Write clear, evidence-based, and unbiased fact-checks for publication.
- Participate in editorial meetings and peer review sessions.
- Work closely with Debunk and NUMEC teams to ensure consistency and neutrality.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field.
- Proven experience in reporting, writing, or fact-checking.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Understanding of verification tools and techniques (Google Reverse Image Search, InVID, etc.).
- Access to a personal website or publishing platform for posting content.
- Excellent communication skills and adherence to journalistic ethics.
Should be working with a Newspapers organisation with a A website.

Edward Tumwine is a Digital Communications Consultant, Lecturer, and Media Viability Expert with over nine years of experience in media relations, content strategy, and digital communications. He has advised organizations and journalists on media sustainability, new media skills, and leveraging digital tools for impact. Edward currently serves as the Communications Officer at Debunk Media Initiative, where he leads strategic communications to combat misinformation. He also lectures in Multimedia Production at Uganda Christian University’s School of Journalism and Communication.
