Fabricated: “Breaking News” Post Falsely Attributes U.S. President Donald Trump Shifting Focus To Uganda After Iran

Lately, when it comes to misinformation about the U.S. president, Donald Trump, it’s always one dramatic allegation after another.
The Claim: A post shared on TikTok claiming that the U.S. president, Donald Trump, has shifted his focus to Uganda after Iran is fabricated.

The statement is presented as both breaking, viral news on social media about him allegedly warning Ugandan president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, in a direct and urgent message from Washington to Kampala.
At 14.2K views, the post’s caption reads: “Breaking news!!! I warned you, Museveni, but you didn’t listen. After Iran, my focus shifts to Uganda. Museveni and his son have long been accused of mistreating Ugandans. The future of your freedom now rests in your own hands. Donald Trump.”
The claim also features a poster with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and President Trump, as well as bold text like the caption.
The Analysis
The Graphic
A closer look at the graphic accompanying the claim reveals several red flags that suggest it is not from a credible news source, for instance, the poster uses sensational language and wording such as “Viral News,” which is not a hallmatk of verified and credible news agencies that use Breaking news, thta speaks for its self.
The graphic also attributes a long quote directly to U.S. President Trump but does not cite any speech, press conference, interview, or official statement where those remarks were made, as expected from a credible news outlet.
The Source
An analysis of the TikTok account that shared the post also raises credibility concerns. The account does not appear to belong to a verified journalist, person with authority, government official, or established media organisation. Instead, it shares highly sensational political content here, here, here and here, designed to generate engagement through dramatic captions and viral-style posters, which indicates how quickly such unverified claims can spread online even without credible evidence.
The Caption
We used the Debunk Media Initiative’s verifying tool by asking the bot about the alleged statement made by “President Trump”.

The tool showed no credible evidence confirming that the U.S president shifted his focus to Uganda because of President Museveni and his son Muhoozi. Instead, the available verified information from other fact-checking organisations like Pesa Check and Africa Check confirms verified claims about Trump and Uganda, which were either altered or there was no evidence to support it.
Considering the fact that President Trump is such an influential figure, if he made such a significant statement, then it is likely it would have been reported by credible international media, so we performed a Google search on the caption by pasting it in the search engine. The results showed more social media posts here, here, here, and here amplifying the claim.

President Trump is known to be outspoken, so we then moved to checking his social media accounts, namely, Facebook and X, to find out if he made such a statement. We did not find anything similar to the posts on his accounts, but posts about Iran.
Context on Iran and why it is mentioned in the claim:
Iran was struck by air and missile attacks by the United States and Israel, causing an escalation in hostilities between Tehran, as seen here, here and the two governments (the U.S. and Israel), which have been widely covered as seen here, here, here and here.
These strikes reportedly targeted Iranian military infrastructure and leadership positions, and have resulted in hundreds of deaths in Iran, including civilians, with casualties exceeding 700, and their Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. President Trump has continuously made updates about the mission in Iran on his official accounts on X and Facebook.

The claim references Iran by stating, “After Iran, my focus shifts to Uganda,” implying that the U.S. President Trump has concluded or is engaged in direct military action involving Iran before turning attention to Uganda.
Currently, Iran is trending due to escalating tensions involving the United States and Israel and the death of their Supreme Leader. Developments surrounding Iran’s regional activities and security posture have drawn significant global attention. However, there is no verified statement from Donald Trump linking events in Iran to Uganda, President Museveni, or his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Museveni & Human Rights Complaints:
It’s true that President Museveni and Gen.Muhoozi have faced criticism from opposition, some lawyers, civil society organisations, and the international community for human rights concerns as reported here, here, here, here, and here. However, these are internal and regional critiques, not official warnings from the U.S. president as described in the claim.
Verdict
Fabricated: There is no evidence proving that President Trump made the quoted statement about President Museveni of Uganda or a shift of focus from Iran to Uganda. While Trump has publicly addressed issues concerning Iran’s security policies in the past, there is no credible record of him declaring a shift in focus from Iran to Uganda or issuing a warning directed at the leadership of Uganda. The reference appears to rely on real international tensions to create a sense of authenticity, but there is no evidence connecting those events to the alleged statement about Uganda. You are advised to stay alert.
