Misleading: TikTok Video Falsely Portrays Various Independent Clips as a “Talk” with President Museveni

Claim:
A TikTok video shared by user @cyzman256 claims to show a direct conversation between the creator and the president of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in which the creator appears to ask questions and the president responds. The interview is not real and is misleading.

The video originally belongs to Kunguri. creations and was captioned a “talk with Museveni”.

It was reshared by Cyzman256, and an additional text was added to the TikTok, suggesting that he was explaining how he won the January presidential election, reinforcing the impression of a real interview.

Facts:
President Museveni does interviews and has previously done them with journalists like NBS’ journalist Canary Mugume, Sky News’ journalist, Yousra Elbagir  and according to our analysis of the creator’s account, we realised that he is not a journalist but just a comic creator on the platform, raising concerns about it.

The video consists of multiple clips of President Museveni speaking at various public events and media interactions recorded at separate times.

The creator’s narration, captions, dramatic sound effects, and reaction inserts were added afterwards, creating the false impression of an actual, interactive exchange.

There is no evidence that President Museveni participated in any interview or direct conversation with the TikToker.

Evidence:

Verification of the claim using the Info Verifier tool found no credible information confirming that President Museveni held a specific interview explaining how he won the election in the manner presented in the TikTok.

A closer examination of the TikTok reveals clear signs of deceptive editing intended to achieve the purpose (create an interview), misleading the masses. We noticed that the backgrounds, microphones, and clothes of President Museveni change repeatedly throughout the video, while the supposed interviewer remains in a constant setting and clothes, indicating that the clips originate from unrelated events.

We also compared this “interview” with different interviews done by the president with other journalists, like Canary Mugume, Sky News’ Yousra Elbagir, among others. They all use the sitting setup, yet with the TikToker is constantly standing, while president Museveni is seen at a podium and sitting in the various clips.

We noticed that the TikTok “interview” was unnatural. From the interviewer to the dramatic sounds and meme videos reacting to President Museveni’s responses

Google reverse searches conducted on the screenshots of President Museveni’s responses show that the clips were taken from separate speeches and appearances. We then took screenshots of each response of President Museveni and performed a Google reverse image search on each one of them.

The first response’s clip traces back to a TikTok in 2022, which was incomplete; we also took another screenshot of it and performed a Google reverse image search, leading us to a complete video on YouTube in 2022.

Other results of the  reverse image search that led us to the real youtube video

We took a screenshot of the second changed frame and performed a Google reverse image search on it, leading us to these results on TikTok, Instagram and FaceBook. From the videos, we learnt that the clip was taken in 2024 in a meeting where he was responding that the people who do not care about their future are people who watch/support football and not his voters, as claimed.

Additionally the next Google reverse image search identified footage in Rwakitura in January 2026 here, here, here and  here, during election victory certificate event where president Musveni addressed multiple national issues unrelated to those in the TikTok.

We then performed a simple keyword search ( “Museveni + 10,000 shillings + fish + speech”) on Google about the monetary claim and it being enough to buy fish. And this revealed that he was referring to allegations that opposition leaders tried to bribe voters in the 2026 elections with UGX 10,000 and not him doing so as claimed in the video.

Further clips were traced to separate recordings from 2025 here, here, here and the length older video YouTube shared in 2020 in which President Museveni addressed national security matters.

Other responses from the tiktok were linked to a 2024 engagement with journalists  here, here and here in Bugisu sub-region where he emphasized their role in promoting Parish Development Model (PDM), and not a direct interview response to the Tiktoker.

Additionally, we noticed that there are no credible media outlets reporting any such interview. A review of the creator’s account indicates that the individual is a comic content creator rather than a journalist, further supporting that the video is edited for comic purposes that may end up misleading the masses.

Verdict:
Misleading. The TikTok video falsely portrays various independent videos  as a “Talk” with President Museveni. While the clips are genuine recordings of president Museveni, they are taken from unrelated events and edited together to create the false impression of a conversation with President Museveni.
