Media Literacy for Young Journalists to Counter Misinformation and Disinformation in Uganda.

We are working hand in hand with Media Challenge Initiative and the US Mission in Uganda on a Media Literacy for Young Journalists to Counter Misinformation and Disinformation in Uganda.

We expect to train young journalists who are still unemployed to achieve similar success in gaining employment based on the fact checking skills, knowledge and connections they will receive through the media literacy and countering disinformation and misinformation training sessions.

They will receive intensive training through working with Debunk Media Initiative in countering disinformation and misinformation and this experience will consolidate and refine their skills and help them build a body of work to show to potential employers. We expect that once they go out into the media industry and work for traditional media houses, they will continue to counter fake news and disinformation.

The project shall also include the use of the Debunk Fact Checking App/Platform to allow access of factual information among young people and to promote direct engagement with experts on human rights, democracy, education, health, gender among others.
