FACT CHECK: VIDEO CLAIMING MUBENDE IS GOING INTO LOCKDOWN USES OLD FOOTAGE

A viral TikTok video claims that Mubende is going back into lockdown because of Ebola.

However, the video uses OLD footage from Uganda’s 2022 Ebola outbreak.
The clip showing President Yoweri Museveni speaking about lockdown measures relates to the 2022 Ebola outbreak, when the government imposed restrictions on Mubende and Kassanda districts after rising Ebola cases and deaths.
The footage showing Ebola response teams and reported deaths is also from that same 2022 outbreak period.
Although Uganda has recently confirmed fresh Ebola cases in Kampala linked to the ongoing Bundibugyo virus outbreak in eastern DR Congo, there are currently no officially confirmed Ebola cases reported in Mubende. Cases in DR Congo have mainly been reported in Ituri Province, including Bunia, Rwampara, and Mongbwalu health zones.
At the moment, there has been NO official announcement from President Museveni or Uganda’s Ministry of Health declaring a lockdown or curfew in Mubende.
