False: Elon Musk Did Not Suspend Gen. Muhoozi’s X Account as Purported by KJNews

An X/Twitter post published by the Kampala Journal (KJNews) claiming that US businessman Elon Musk suspended Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba from X is false. Evidence shows it was a personal deactivation on the side of Muhoozi.
The post shared on Friday the 7th of January 2025, at 9:54 PM garnered over 106.6K views, 1.9k likes and 164 reposts.
“Take your drunkenness to TikTok or Rwakitura at your father’s farm,” angry Elon Musk suspends Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba X handle moments after he threatened to again behead Bobi and ‘hang’ Besigye on May 9th”. Read the KJNews post.
The Analysis
Gen. Muhoozi has been or is an active X user. He is known to be very expressive on the app. In the past, he has had a bitter moment with neighbouring Kenyans for his statements about annexing their country. Reports about the incident have been written here, here, and here.

The incident had his father the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni barring him from posting controversial issues on X and being sacked from his position as the UPDF Commander of Land Forces as seen here and here
The facts
On Friday 10, January 2025, Gen. Muhoozi deactivated his account as “an instruction from his Lord Jesus to concentrate on his army duties” as explained in various media reports here, here, here, here, and here.
However, on Thursday 16, January 2025, the account was reactivated and used to quote a post from Daily Monitor where he was being summoned to face the Parliamentary Defence committee, to which he said he wouldn’t and labelled them clowns as reported here, here and here.

He then followed up with posts about him planning when to kill prominent opposition leaders, Dr. Kizza Besigye and Robert Kyagulanyi who he referred to as Kabobi as reported here, here, here, here and here, something that stirred up the public raising concerns as to why his account can not be suspended as seen here.
Following those events, on the evening of Friday, January 17, 2025, Gen. Muhoozi’s X account (@mkainerugaba) was again taken down for reasons that are still unclear. When clicked on, it says, “This account doesn’t exist.”

A report by the Nile Post, an online multimedia platform, confirms this, as of the time this fact check was compiled and published. However, the account is still down.
Although the Kampala Journal claims Elon suspended the account, that is not true. According to the X Help Center website, when an account is suspended, you will see “Account suspended” if you try to access that account which is not the case with Gen. Muhoozi’s account.
“Permanent suspension: This is our most severe enforcement action. Permanently suspending an account will remove it from view, and the violator will not be allowed to create new accounts. When we permanently suspend an account, we notify people that they have been suspended for abuse violations, and explain which policy or policies they have violated and which content was in violation.” reads part of the X Help Center website
Gen. Muhoozi’s account simply states that the account doesn’t exist and according to the website, this means the account is deactivated. Deactivation is normally done by the owner of the account.
“Deactivated accounts: Account owners can deactivate their accounts at any time. When an account owner deactivates their account, the page will be rendered as unavailable.” continues to read part of the X Help Center website
Verdict
False, Elon Musk did not suspend Gen. Muhoozi’s X account. But the account is just deactivated by either the handler or himself; otherwise, dismiss the claim.
