MISLEADING: MOSES ALI IS NOT FROM YUMBE DISTRICT, HE IS MP FOR ADJUMANI WEST CONSTITUENCY.

A video of Gen Moses Ali has been posted on The Observer Newspaper X claiming that “Rt. Hon. Gen(Rtd) Moses Ali (born 5 April 1939) Gen Moses Ali asking the people of Yumbe for support for another term in office”. This video got over 400 thousand views and was shared by more than 900 people. This video was also shared on Facebook  furthermore sharing this misleading information.

FACT CHECK

General Moses Ali, Ugandan second Deputy Prime minister is a member of Parliament for Adjumani West Constituency, which is found in Adjumani district, and not Yumbe district as the Observer claimed. He has served as Mp for this constituency from 2011 up to date. This then debunks the claim that he was “asking the people of Yumbe for support” because they are not his voters and thus he may not directly need their support in order to make it to parliament.

There are some journalists on X who fact checked the  Observer Post with comments giving clarity on Moses Ali constituency here, here and here.

CONCLUSION

It is misleading to claim that Gen Moses Ali was requesting support from the people of Yumbe district for another term in office, General Moses Ali is MP for Adjumani West Constituency.
