ALTERED: The Image of Bobi Wine at CBC Radio Does Not Contain LGBTQ Words
A photo of Bobi Wine on CBC radio with LGBTQ wording has been shared widely on the internet, with different captions that suggest that Bobi Wine is pro-LGBTQ, as seen here, here, here, and here.
Research
Using Google Lens, we found an image dated August 18, 2024, that Bobi Wine shared on his social media platforms that didn’t have LGBTQ words, as seen here and here.
The claims were shared on August 19th and 20th, 2024, respectively, after Bobi Wine shared his photo.
We performed another Google Image search to determine CBC Radio’s ‘background branding’. We found images taken by other individuals at CBC Radio with a similar background to Bobi Wine without any LGBTQ wording, as seen here and here, which confirmed that the image circulating is altered.
Upon analysing the images, we noticed that the CBC logo and the accompanying text have shadows, while the LGBTQ words do not have shadows, yet they are depicted as part of the branding.
Verdict
The image was altered; the original image shared by Bobi Wine when he was at CBC radio in Toronto did not contain any LGBTQ branding, and there are no LGBTQ signs on the CBC radio ‘backdrop’ branding.
