CLAIM

A post circulating on TikTok alleges that the Ugandan police broke down after seeing former presidential candidate and opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, live in America with President Donald Trump, to address the Geneva summit

The claim is false and should not be given any credit

The claim had a picture of Kyagulanyi, his wife and son positioned as though they are being welcomed by President Trump at the airport.

The claim also had a text added to it which reads: “Breaking news: Ugandan police breaks down after seeing Bobi Wine live in America with Trump ready to address Geneva Summit today.”

The Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy is an annual conference that highlights pressing human rights issues around the world that demand international awareness and response. It offers a platform for human rights activists and former political prisoners to share their personal experiences in the struggle for democracy and freedom while fostering international solidarity and collective action against oppression.

THE FACTS

Kyagulanyi indeed addressed the 18th Annual Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy on  February 18,  2026, following contested elections and security pressure at his home in Uganda. He addressed the summit via a video link from an undisclosed location, not physically as suggested by the TikToker

When we did media monitoring, we learned that no credible reports were showing any reaction from Ugandan police in response to the claims made. There is also no evidence linking Trump’s attendance at the summit with Bobi Wine’s speech.

EVIDENCE

We started by using the Info Verifier tool by asking the Debunk bot, “Did the Ugandan police break down after seeing Bobi Wine live in America with Trump ready to address the Geneva Summit?” and the results showed that there was no verified evidence to support the claim.

We then clicked on the Facebook suggestion, which took us to the Geneva Summit’s page, where we learned that Kyagulanyi was actually scheduled to address the world via video.

We also monitored the media to see the coverage of the Geneva Summit herehere, here, and here, where we learnt that he addressed the summit virtually from a hidden location, citing serious safety threats and the experience of his family fleeing Uganda.

There was no mention of emotional reactions by the  Ugandan police to a live performance abroad as alleged in the claim.

The independent reporting on the summit revealed raids on his home, heavy security deployments around his residence and political tensions there following the January 2026 elections, but no substantiated account matches the details in the claim.

In the article, he also stated that while he is in hiding, he doesn’t want to be in hiding. “It was necessary, though, so that I could stay alive. And be able to speak to you right now (at the summit).”

We then did a Google reverse image search on a screenshot taken from the TikTok to find out if Kyagulanyi was actually with U.S. President Trump. The results showed more posts with that same image circulating across social media  here and here, carrying the same claim. The results also led to a fact-check published by PesaCheck, which addressed the same image and clarified that it had been fake.

We then performed an AI generation test on the image using ZeroGPT AI image detector, which revealed that the image 93% likely AI-generated.

VERDICT

False.  Bobi Wine did not appear live in America with President Trump. The video creator shares an AI-generated image to create a false narrative and fabricate a reaction from the Ugandan police while misleadingly presenting it alongside the factual event of Bobi Wine’s remote address to the Geneva Summit. Kindly dismiss it.
