False: Hon. Evelyn Anite Was Not Sent to Rehab After Cabinet Reshuffle

Claim
A claim on https://x.com/KampalaJournal/status/2064216730021298315?s=20X shared by Kamapala Journal News (KJNews) alleges that former minister of Investment Evelyn Anite, also referred to as “Gateway to Koboko,” “lost her mind” and was sent to rehabilitation after being disappointed by recent cabinet appointments made by Yoweri Museveni. This claim is false.

The claim reads: “Ex Minister Evelyne Anite aka Gateway to Koboko reportedly sent on rehab after losing her mind over the disappointment by Museveni in recent cabinet appointments.”
Background
Evelyn Anite is a Ugandan politician currently a Senior Presidential Advisor and previously served as State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization. She gained public attention for her strong support of President Yoweri Museveni and has been an active political figure within the ruling party.
In May president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reshuffled the cabinet as reported here, here, and here. These reshuffles often generate public debate and speculation, especially when prominent figures are reassigned or left out and this creates an environment that sometimes fuels unverified and politically motivated narratives on social media like this case.
Evidence
We started the verifying by using the Info Verifier which showed no credible reports supporting claims that Evelyn Anite was sent to rehabilitation following the recent cabinet reshuffle.

According to the tool, reports made here, here and here about Anite indicated that she was dropped from her ministerial position and appointed as a Senior Presidential Advisor by president Museveni. None of these reports mention that she “lost her mind”.
The post claims that Anite “lost her mind” and was admitted to a rehabilitation facility, but provides no evidence to support either allegation.
We also conducted a simple Google search using keywords like “Hon. Anite Evelyne sent to rehab after losing her mind over cabinet reshuffle” and the results showed stories about Anite’s exit from the Ministerial position as reported here, here.

An article by pulse.ug shows that Anite responded to the rumors about her cabinet exit by posting fitness-focused and light-hearted content on social media, saying that she remains active and well as she transitions into a new advisory role.
We reviewed the source of the claim and found that it frequently shares unverified and misleading information, with a pattern of publishing sensational content without credible sourcing. This raises concerns about its reliability and credibility as a news source.
Direct denial by Evelyn Anite
Under the post by KJNews, Anite responded to the claim saying: “ Madness only fools can think like this, I am very happy and doing great things with my life and business.”
She also engaged in a back and forth exchange with the account, suggesting she was actively managing her social media presence rather than being incapacitated.

We also reached out to her for a comment, but have not yet received a response by time of publication.
Methodology
To verify the claim, we used the following approaches:
Info Verifier:
We used the Info Verifier tool to review existing reports related to Evelyn Anite and being taken to rehab. The results showed that she was dropped as a minister and appointed as a Senior Presidential Advisor, not that she was disappointed or sent to rehabilitation
Google search
We conducted keyword searches about the claim to find reports made about the matter and the results also confirmed that she was doing well preparing for her new Senior Presidential Advisor role.
Source evaluation
We analysed the account sharing the claim and found a pattern of sensational and unverified content, raising concerns about its credibility and reliability.
Primary source verification
We also reviewed Anite’s public response to the claim, in which she dismissed it, and attempted to contact her directly for comment to confirm her position.
Verdict: False
Hon. Anite was not sent to rehab after cabinet reshuffle by president Museveni. There is no evidence that she suffered a mental breakdown or was sent to rehabilitation due to disappointment over cabinet appointments. Available evidence shows that she was removed from her ministerial position and appointed to an advisory role. Kindly dismiss the claim.
