AI Generated: Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba Did Not Say Anita Among would die in Luzira Prison.

A TikTok video circulating online claims that Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba said Speaker of Parliament Anita Among would face life imprisonment and “die while starving in Luzira Prison” for what she allegedly did to Uganda.

The video, posted by the TikTok account “ur.uganda,” features an image of Gen. Kainerugaba speaking at a podium alongside a voiceover claiming:
“Anita Among is going to face a life imprisonment for what she did to our country, so she will die while starving in Luzira prison.”
At the time of review, the video had amassed more than 100,000 views, 2,011 likes, and 64 comments, with several users appearing to believe the claim.
But did Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba make these remarks?
FINDINGS:
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search using a screenshot taken from the TikTok video.
The search led us to a post published by the PATRIOTIC LEAGUE OF UGANDA X account on May 8, 2026, showing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba speaking at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds during final rehearsals for President Yoweri Museveni’s inauguration.
The accompanying caption stated that Gen. Kainerugaba had inspected parade preparations ahead of the inauguration ceremony and urged participants to sharpen their drills and ensure a flawless parade. The post made no mention of Anita Among or any statement regarding imprisonment.
We also found a corresponding report published by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) concerning the same event. The report similarly stated that Gen. Kainerugaba’s remarks focused on parade preparations and the successful execution of the inauguration ceremony. It did not contain the words attributed to him in the TikTok video.
To determine whether Gen. Kainerugaba had made similar remarks elsewhere, we searched the Debunk Information Verifier using keywords related to the claim.

The search returned reports indicating that Gen. Kainerugaba had previously criticised Speaker Anita Among, particularly regarding reports of her acquisition of a luxury Rolls Royce vehicle. However, none of the results contained the statement attributed to him in the TikTok video or any report that he said Anita Among would face life imprisonment or die in Luzira Prison.
We also located a video published by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) on its official YouTube channel showing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba speaking during the same parade preparations at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds ahead of President Museveni’s inauguration. The recording contains Gen. Kainerugaba’s actual voice and remarks from the event.
A comparison between the authentic UPDF recording and the narration in the TikTok video revealed noticeable differences in voice characteristics, including tone, pitch, cadence and speech patterns. While Gen. Kainerugaba’s voice in the UPDF recording is distinctly conversational, the narration in the TikTok video exhibits characteristics commonly associated with synthetic text-to-speech audio, including a uniform tone and artificial cadence.
To further assess the audio, we subjected the video to Hive Moderation‘s AI-generated content detection tool. The analysis indicated that the narration was 99.1% likely to contain AI-generated speech. These findings suggest that the audio accompanying the TikTok video was likely synthetically generated rather than sourced from an authentic recording of Gen. Kainerugaba.

METHODOLOGY:
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search to establish the origin of the image used in the video and identify the context in which it was originally published.
We examined the sources returned by the reverse image search and reviewed official publications related to the event, including posts and reports published by the Patriotic League of Uganda and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
To determine whether Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba had publicly made the statements attributed to him in the video, we conducted keyword searches using the Debunk Information Verifier and reviewed relevant reports concerning his public remarks about Speaker Anita Among.
We also identified and reviewed an official UPDF video recording of Gen. Kainerugaba speaking at the same event featured in the TikTok video. A visual and audio comparison was conducted between the authentic recording and the narration used in the TikTok video to assess similarities and differences in voice characteristics.
Finally, we subjected the TikTok video to Hive Moderation’s AI-generated content detection tool to assess whether the audio exhibited signs of synthetic generation.
VERDICT: False. The image used in the TikTok video was taken from a May 2026 military event where Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba was discussing parade preparations, not Anita Among. We found no credible evidence that he made the alleged remarks, while analysis indicated the video’s narration was highly likely to be AI-generated.
