FALSE: Viral TikTok Claim That Bobi Wine Met President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

Background

On March 13, 2026, Bobi Wine revealed that he would be away for a short period, explaining that he planned to meet friends and allies across the world before eventually returning to Uganda. His departure to the U.S. attracted significant public interest in Uganda, and it is against this backdrop that fabricated images claiming to show Bobi Wine meeting senior world leaders began circulating on social media.

CLAIM:

A TikTok video originally posted by the account @ianblundeltadanoofficial and reshared by  @gwitaing.aisha claims that Bobi Wine met US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington D.C. on or around March 21, 2026, and that they discussed democracy in Uganda.

The video displays what appears to be a Facebook post bearing Bobi Wine's verified profile

The video displays what appears to be a Facebook post bearing Bobi Wine’s verified profile, with a caption claiming, “Today I managed to meet the president of USA President Donald J. Trump and Israel prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and we discussed important issues about Democracy in Uganda — People Power Uganda.” The post shows an image of four men, purportedly Bobi Wine, Trump, Netanyahu, and another unidentified man, standing together in front of what appears to be the US Capitol building.

The post had accumulated 691 likes, 57 comments, and 179 shares at the time of our review.

Because the claim involves a specific, high-profile diplomatic encounter between an opposition leader and two sitting heads of government, we investigated whether this meeting took place and whether the image is authentic.

Findings:

Our investigation shows this claim is FALSE. The image is a fabricated composite, built from two separate, unrelated photographs, and no credible evidence of any meeting between Bobi Wine, Trump, and Netanyahu exists.

Debunk Info Verifier Tool Search Results

We used the Debunk Info Verifier to search for evidence of the claimed meeting using keywords such as “Bobi Wine meets Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu in the U.S.” The tool returned results exclusively from social media posts, all unverified and none citing any credible source confirming the meeting. No credible news source, Ugandan, American, Israeli, or international, reported any meeting between Bobi Wine, President Trump, and Prime Minister Netanyahu.

We also queried DebunkBot using the keywords: “bobi wine meets President Trump and netanyahu.”

We also queried DebunkBot using the keywords: “bobi wine meets President Trump and netanyahu.”

The tool returned a clear response indicating that there is no verified evidence that Bobi Wine has ever met Donald Trump or Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to the results:

  • Multiple fact-checking organisations, including PesaCheck and Africa Check, have already debunked similar claims.
  • Images and videos circulating online that suggest such a meeting are fabricated or digitally altered.
  • Content spreading on platforms like TikTok and Facebook is unverified and misleading.
  • No credible media reports or official statements support the claim.

The tool therefore, concludes that the claim is misinformation and should be treated with caution.

The Image Is a Fabricated Composite

A Google reverse image search of the photograph reveals it was constructed from separate, unrelated images. Bobi Wine’s portion of the image originates from a photo he posted on his own official X account (@HEBobiwine) on March 18, 2026, showing him standing alone outside the US Capitol building, with the caption: “Started my international engagements today with meetings on Capitol Hill, in Washington DC. #FreeUgandaNow.”

A close comparison of the two images reveals that the face in the composite appears slightly different with fuller, rounder cheeks compared to the original, suggesting the image was not merely cut and pasted but digitally altered or AI-manipulated.

Trump’s figure was also identified through a separate circulating post showing Bobi Wine and Trump standing in front of the Capitol building, in which Trump is wearing the same suit but without a smile, indicating his image was downloaded independently and inserted into the composite.

No connection between that visit and Bobi Wine exists in any verified reporting.

The fourth individual in the fabricated image, an unidentified man, could not be identified through Google reverse image search or other tools such as pimeyes, and does not appear in any verified report of any meeting involving these figures. The composite was therefore constructed figure by figure, with at least one face showing signs of digital manipulation, to create a group photo that never existed.

The Facebook Post Appearance Is Also Fabricated

The TikTok video presents the claim as a Facebook post from Bobi Wine’s verified account. However, no such post appears on Bobi Wine’s official verified Facebook or X accounts. His actual March 18 post on X and Facebook shows him alone at the Capitol and makes no mention of Trump or Netanyahu. The fabricated Facebook post format, complete with a blue verified tick, is designed to make the false claim appear to come directly from Bobi Wine himself.

A further visual red flag is the presence of the Grok symbol at the bottom right corner of the image. Grok is the AI assistant built into X (formerly Twitter).  Its watermark has no place on a Facebook post. Its appearance on what is presented as a Facebook screenshot is a strong indicator that the image was generated or manipulated, and it directly contradicts the claim that the post originated on Facebook. A genuine Facebook post would carry no such watermark.

Methodology:

To verify this claim, we applied a structured fact-checking process combining the Debunk Info Verifier tool, official social media review, image source analysis, and prior fact-check review.

Debunk Info Verifier Tool

We used the Debunk Info Verifier tool to search for evidence of the claimed meeting. The tool returned results exclusively from unverified social media posts. We also queried the DebunkBot directly using keyword searches, which confirmed the claim is unverified.

2. DebunkBot Query

We used DebunkBot to verify the claim by searching the keywords “bobi wine meets president trump and netanyahu.”

The tool returned results indicating that there is  that Bobi Wine has met Donald Trump or Benjamin Netanyahu. Instead, it referenced fact-checks by organizations such as PesaCheck and Africa Check, which found that images and videos claiming to show such a meeting are fabricated or manipulated.

3. Reverse Image Search

To verify the authenticity of the image shown in the video, we conducted a Google Reverse Image Search. This revealed that the image was constructed from separate photographs.

The portion showing Bobi Wine was traced to a photo posted on his official X account on March 18, 2026. In the original image, he is standing alone outside the United States Capitol building.

The other figures in the composite, including Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, could not be traced to any single verified photograph showing them together with Bobi Wine.

4. Visual and Metadata Analysis

We conducted a visual inspection of the image to identify inconsistencies. The comparison between the original photograph and the fabricated composite revealed facial differences and signs of digital manipulation, including altered facial proportions.

We also observed the presence of a Grok watermark in the corner of the image. Since the viral post was presented as a screenshot from Facebook, the presence of a Grok watermark is inconsistent with genuine Facebook screenshots and suggests that the image was generated or altered using AI tools.

Verdict: False

The claim that Bobi Wine met Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, D.C. is false. The image circulating online is a fabricated composite created from separate, unrelated photographs. Reverse image searches show that the portion featuring Bobi Wine originates from a photo he posted on his official X account showing him standing alone outside the United States Capitol. No credible news outlet or official statement confirms any meeting between the three leaders, and verification tools, including DebunkBot, found no evidence supporting the claim.
